Things not to do in Paris

Don’t depend on a taxi in Paris

In my point of view avoid taxi in Paris at all cost, It is overpriced. I’d recommend you to take an Uber, LeCab, AllooCab, or Metro. At least you would know what you are paying. Metro is the best option in Paris compare to a taxi. It is a part of the experience and also cheap, reliable, and a fast way to move around the city.

Don’t skip Pre-planning before you arrive in Paris

Paris is one of the most popular and tourist cities. the most visited city in the world is also one of the most expensive cities. This city is worth the price but you have to pre-plan before you arrive here. You have to plan for you budget, where you stay, things to see near your hotel, near metro station, near restaurants or food stall, where you can shop in cheap price, what your hair for traveling bus, taxi, metro, or cab like Uber, Lab, etc. Download some apps like “Visit Paris by Metro”, “Guidebooks” this app can save a lot of time and money and free you from frustration.

Don’t Throw Metro Ticket Until You Exist the Station

In Paris, most stations have a tapping-out system that makes it impossible to exit without a valid ticket. You need to show your ticket at any time of your journey. And also you need a ticket to exit the barriers. If you do so risk getting hit with a very high fine. So make sure you hold on to your ticket until you exit the station.

Don’t Overplaned

Most people do this mistake before arriving in Paris. One of the big mistakes is to try to do too many things or see too many unnecessary things. Especially when you have limited time/days. Try to book a hotel near the metro station so that you can save a lot of time and money. Select some most visited popular place that you never want to miss. Decide your budget so that you escape from unnecessary expenses. I will recommend you to buy a Paris Pass, and a guidebook so that you save time and money during your visit.

Don’t shop merely on the Champs-Elysees

Champs-Elysees is known to be one of the world’s most famous commercial streets. This street is filled with overpriced cafes, shopping chains, vagrants, and raucous teens. Many brands are present here like the Banana Republic, Hermès, Swarovski, IKKS, Levi’s, Éric Bompard, Emilio Pucci, Manoush, la marque de maquillage MAC, Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Guerlain, Dior Homme, Celine, Gucci, Chanel, Jil Sander, Christian Dior, Emanuel Ungaro, Valentino, Malo, Marni, Nina Ricci, and many more. It is no doubt a shopping paradise, recent travelers noticed the price tags at most stores are can be pretty high. So before you buy something from Champs-Elysees do research.

Don’t Book a Hotel Room Far From Metro Station

I already do this mistake in my previous Paris tour. At last, I realized and I highly recommend you book a hotel near the metro station. So that you save your time to find a cab, taxi and save a lot of money. After a long tied day when you back to room it’s better to book a room in Paris within a short walk of the Metro stop.

Don’t Plan a Tour In August

In august Paris is very quiet, most shops are closed. Generally, this time when Parisians desert the capital for the countryside. This is the worst time of the year in Paris. Especially hot in summer months and in august particular can be intolerable. I don’t think in 42 degrees and a hotel with no air conditioner is good for a memorable n fun trip.
It is best to come to Paris in the spring or in the autumn season. Paris is a busy and popular tourist destination but it is more enjoyable n fun when it is cooler.

Don’t Plan to Visit The Louvre Museum on a Tuesday

The  Louvre is the most famous and most visited museum in the world. If you are in Paris and wish to visit this famous museum then do not go on Tuesday. It is closed on Tuesday.

Don’t Look Forward to Seeing Everything at The Louvre Museum

Before you visit the Louvre Museum make a plan of what you want to see and map out your route. Because there is too much to see even one day is not sufficient. Tour guides are a great option to see the main highlights and know more about the art. Book your ticket in advance before you arrive here. It is better to split your time between the Louvre museum and the smaller museums. The smaller museum has equally important and beautiful art and you won’t be elbowed out of the way by a photo-snapping swarm. Expect to see everything at the Louvre is stupidity. As a traveler, we have a tendency to put pressure on ourselves to see it all but here it is impossible. It is better to manage your expectations and make a plan in advance to spend quality time there.

Don’t Get Taken By Scammers

Unfortunately, scammers hoping to rip off unprepared and unsuspecting tourists in Paris. Here you can see different types of cheater waiting to make scam on you. So be well prepared before you take a tour.

Pickpockets Scams: Buy an anti-pickpocket bag, it has all the security features needed to protect your things
Ring/Bracelet Scam: The area around Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Coeur is a known scam. Avoid eye contact and do not talk to them who want to make a bracelet or ring for you.
Petition Scam: Some young women will be approaching you by holding a clipboard. If you speak English they will request you to sign in a paper. Then demand a donation after you sing. Don’t respond to them and Just ignore and walk on.

Don’t Leave Your Kids At Home in Your Paris Tour

Leave your kids at home when you are going on a Paris Tour is not a good idea. Paris is a kid-friendly city. It has a lot of popular attractions you can visit with your kids. World-famous Louvre Museum in Paris. Here your kids learn the history of many popular paintings. And also kids love to listen that audio guides are on a Nintendo 3DS(which you can buy in advance) This museum Open from 9 am to 6 pm on Monday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. 9 am to 9:45 pm on Wednesday and Friday. Closed on Tuesdays.
If you plan to visit the famous Eiffel Tower, your kids love to climb the steps of the tower. You can also have a picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower. You can enjoy visiting the city’s famous waxwork museum Musee Grevin. Where you can meet kings, queens, and many of favorite celebrities waxwork.
Jardin D’Acclimatation is an amusement park. Here you can see farm animals, plenty of water to cool off in, and rides for your kids and you. surrounding the park is great for a bike ride and you can hire bikes near the Jardin d’Acclimatation. It is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm. Parc de la Villette has 10 themed gardens that use mists, acrobatics, and mirrors to create attractive play places. Here you will find lots of activities. One of  Europe’s science museums, the interactive and exciting Cité des Sciences (10 am to 6 pm Tues-Sun) within which there is the Cité des Enfants. Children from 2-12 can play grips with basic science and being TV presenters. You can play at being part of a movie scene in the simulator in the tilting cinema La Cineaxe and watch 3-D movies in the hemispheric La Géode. Musee du Quai Branly has a fascinating collection of objects from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and America. It has summer events for kids and also has a modern garden. So friends in my opinion Paris has a lot to see for your kids. They can enjoy it, they can learn, and you can have quality time with your family. So don’t leave your kids at home on your Paris tour.

Don’t waste more time at the Eiffel Tower

If you are not interested in the thrilling ride up and extraordinary views, waiting in a long line is not a good idea to spend your vacation. Around the Eiffel Tower area has heavy security points for extra protection. Even it is not the best view of the city. If you want to see the best view that includes the Eiffel Tower, You can go instead to the top of the Arc de Triomphe.

Don’t Forget your Term of French Politeness

In Paris don’t forget to use your manners when you talk with locals. Before you go there learn a few French politeness words. And use it when interacting with waiter staff, street vendors, hotel staff, and people near you in the metro and taxi. Simple phrases like bonjour (hello), pardon(sorry), au revoir(goodbye), and merci(thank you). In Paris, people like to talk softly. So, when you are outside of your hotel room try to low your voice.

Don’t only Shop in Souvenir Shops

In Souvenir shops they take overpriced. If you want to buy a gift or things to remember your fabulous Paris tour then you can also buy from flea markets, bookstores, perfumeries at a good price.
